Brittany & Steven

Where: Stonefields Estates (Ottawa, ON) They are amazing and their entire staff had our timeline memorized. They reminded us to prepare for our secret first dance and made sure we actually had time to eat during cocktail hour. The waitress, Grace, was almost like my personal bridal assistant for the day! She was a dream come true.
When: July 30th, 2021
Bridal Gown: Essense of Australia
Photography: Laura Fenny Photography - I cannot possibly put into words how talented, sweet and fantastic Laura is. She was my absolute dream photographer/videographer, and I was so excited when she was available for our wedding! From the moment we met Laura she made us feel so comfortable. She has a way of making us feel at ease in front of the camera. She captures real, beautiful moments and captured so much love and emotion.
Florals: Blush Flowers by Carrie - I discovered Carrie through one of my best friends who worked with Carrie on her wedding. I have never seen such gorgeous and fresh flowers, I knew I needed Carrie for my wedding. She is well worth the drive and made transporting the flowers from Trenton to Ottawa seamless!
Hair: Hair by Carm - Carm and her team traveled to my bridesmaids and I on the morning of my wedding. They made getting ready so stress free and fun! Carm was honestly such a great support on the morning of my wedding day and beyond talented! She made me and my bridesmaids feel beautiful. She is the sweetest soul and reminded me to take a moment, slow down and soak in every moment of my wedding day!
Makeup: Jasmine O'hara - My makeup artist and close friend, Jasmine, seamlessly organized makeup for my entire bridal party, and I. She is extremely talented and worked with me for months leading up to the wedding to test different looks and products to ensure the morning of the wedding was stress free and magical.

The Inspiration: Stonefields Estate has been our dream venue for years. When we were engaged in 2019, we immediately inquired with their lovely owners/husband and wife team, Steve and Angela. Shortly after our engagement, Covid-19 hit along with the many subsequent lock downs. This was the beginning of 4 different rescheduled dates. The staff and all of our vendors supported us through each and every step of our journey down the aisle. When it comes to style, my husband and I like to keep things simple and chic. Our wedding décor scheme was no exception! We went with classic white florals with a lot of greenery. We had subtle gold/brass accents. The contrast of the rustic wood details of the venue paired perfectly with crisp pops of white.

Moments to Remember: One of my most precious memories of the day was unexpected! During a transition from dinner to dessert, our photographer snuck us away for a few more couple photos at sunset. Those sweet moments were a chance for me and my husband to be alone together, pause and soak in that we were finally married!  To make it even sweeter, our beloved fur baby (who was safely in the guest house on site at the venue during our dinner) had spotted us from a window and managed to escape to join our photo shoot- and those became some of my favourite photos!
Another special moment was our first dance. With the uncertainty of lockdown phases/rules and restrictions, we were unsure if we were going to be able to dance with our guests at our wedding. With so much uncertainty, we decided to make the most of what we could control and make our wedding as meaningful and memorable as possible! We spent 6 months learning the dance from “Dirty Dancing” (yes even a lift!) The best part was we didn't tell anyone beforehand. It was so much fun to learn the dance together and surprise our guests! (Please note I did have to change into a second outfit for this dance because of the lift!)

Brittany's Dress Journey: My wedding dress shopping experience was pure magic. Despite being someone who has always loved weddings and grew up watching 'Say Yes To The Dress' - I had no idea what I wanted my dress to be like. I walked into Lovebird with zero direction or expectations. I like to think I was keeping an open mind. I was actually worried this would make my shopping experience difficult, but this was not the case. From the moment I walked into the boutique, my consultant handled everything! She initially brought over a few different styles to try and helped me narrow down a silhouette, from there the decision felt easy. I remember looking at my dress on the hanger, thinking- yes this is it. When I tried it on, I knew I had found the one. When I said “YES” to my dress, I had no idea I was going to navigate 4 wedding postponements, season changes, and almost 2 years of waiting. I've always thought that the reason brides look so beautiful is because they are so filled with love on their wedding day- and one thing that never changed through Covid was how beautiful my dress made me FEEL, and how excited I was to wear that dress when I married the love of my life. When I put on my dress the day of my wedding, I loved it as much as I did the day I said yes at Lovebird.
